Becoming a cocktail connoisseur with Event Venues.

I was recently invited to visit TT Liquor with Event-Venues.com to trial one of their cocktail making masterclasses. I’m a big fan of drinking cocktails but I rarely make them myself so I was really excited to see what actually happens behind the scenes.

Event Venues is a dedicated company that finds unique and inspiring venues for events. They currently don’t cover specialised private events but aim for the brand and communications events.

I arrived at the venue and was amazed at what they had to offer. TT liquor is a truly special place, with a hidden cinema room and old cell rooms, it has everything you’d ever want! We were introduced to some of the representatives from Event Venues and started chatting about their aims and what they have to offer as a company. Most of the other people we networked with were event organisers for big corporations and brand representatives so it was really nice to mingle with a bunch of different people.

After mingling, we were introduced to our cocktail specialist who made us feel very welcomed and excited to start the class. We were given our own work stations and she talked us though all the different equipment, liquors, juices and any additional bits and pieces that we would need to use. I was a little apprehensive to start at first as there was so much around but she was so welcoming and funny that I soon felt at ease.

We started off by watching her create a south side which was so simple to follow and tasted great. I can definitely see myself creating more at home. The recipe is as follows…

Southside

Ingredients:

  • Mint leaves
  • 2 shots of gin
  • Fresh lime juice
  • Sugar syrup

Method:

  1. Place some crushed ice in a martini glass to make sure your drink stays cold whilst you drink it.
  2. Fill your shaker with ice and pour in the 2 shots of gin, fresh lime juice and sugar syrup.
  3. Slap the mint in your hands and add it into your shaker.
  4. Make sure the lid of the shaker is secure and shake for a good 20 seconds.
  5. Remove the ice from your martini glass and strain well
  6. Garnish the martini with a sprig of fresh mint
  7. Enjoy!

After that, we were introduced to a zombie, a drink I’m quite familiar with and the hangovers they bring. Zombies are well known for their ability to make you feel like… you guessed it, a zombie. Our cocktail master showed us the steps carefully before letting us have a go on our own.

After watching her create one we were left to our own devices, this is where it got interesting as we found it a little hard to remember the order and quantity of the ingredients due to the cocktails we had already consumed…We had so much fun nonetheless and it was so exciting setting the Wray and Nephews on fire.

We were challenged to create our own cocktail in 2 minutes which was the best part of the evening! It was stressful due to the time constraint but I think our cocktail tasted the best.

I had such a fantastic time so a big thank you to Event Venues and TT Liquor for hosting such a smooth sailing and eventful evening!

Love,

Cally x
