The Mane Attraction: Tips To Ensure Your Hair Is Your Crowning Glory

We all have bad hair days. That’s part and parcel of life. The sad truth is though that some of us are convinced that every day is one of those days. If your mane isn’t your star attraction, and you haven’t quite nailed the messy bun or the beach waves, don’t panic. Here are some tips to ensure your hair is your crowning glory.

Caring for your hair

Many of us make a concerted effort to nourish and protect our skin, but we tend to neglect our hair. If you use styling tools on a regular basis or you enjoy basking in the sunshine, it’s crucial to take steps to shield your hair and keep it strong, bouncy, and soft. Select hair care products that are designed for your hair type, condition after shampooing and use a heat protection spray if you are curling, drying, or straightening your hair. If you’re planning trips abroad, and it’s going to be hot, wear a cap or a bandana to protect your scalp and prevent your hair from drying out. If you are prone to dryness or split ends, it’s beneficial to apply oil to the ends and to have your hair trimmed every 6-8 weeks.

Switching up your style

Are you bored of the same old look, or do you long to be one of those people who can sport a different style every day? If you fancy a change, why not explore your options? You could book a consultation with an experienced stylist and go through some ideas for cuts and colours, you could research quality hair extensions to add volume and length, or you could use video tutorials to recreate a host of different styles without altering your hair drastically. Have a look through some hair and fashion magazines, take clippings and screenshots, and think about what kinds of styles and shades would suit your skin tone and face shape.

Learning what suits you

Most of us watch TV programmes, read magazines and swipe through online galleries and see clothes, hairstyles or makeup looks that we like. The trouble is that a look that is perfect for one person may not always be the best option for another. We’re all different, and it can take time to fully understand what suits you, and what complements, defines and enhances your best features. If you’re thinking about having your hair cut, always consider your face shape. There are certain styles that flatter rounder faces, as well as cuts that are perfect for smaller, more angular features. Take care with fringes and partings, and don’t be afraid to ask for advice if you’re not sure what would suit you. Often, it can take a period of trial and error to find colours and styles that are ideally suited, and it’s always fun to experiment and try different looks.

If your hair isn’t the mane attraction at the moment, things are about to change! It’s time to stop wishing you had somebody else’s hair and start loving your own mop. Learn to create different styles, be open to trying new things, take good care of your hair and work out what suits your skin tone and the shape of your face.

Love, Cally x
